The Archipelago Singers

The Archipelago Singers is an Indonesia based chamber choir established in 2008 by a group of people who have great interest and admiration on choral music. Although it may sound new, all members of The Archipelago Singers are skilled singers of various prominent Indonesian choirs who have won various overseas international choir competitions and numbers of national choir competitions, who share the same interests of giving more contribution to Indonesian music culture and Indonesian community beyond “simply singing in a choir”.In addition to being an organization that hosts the passions of its members in choral singing, the members of The Archipelago Singers have also committed to make this choir a mean for delivering and promoting the spirit of “unity in diversity” through music in Indonesia, world’s largest archipelagic country having thousands of ethnic groups and numbers of religious views. This objective is embedded in the membership composition of our choir which consists of singers from different ethnic groups, religions, professions and ages. Our young singers in the choir represent our long term aim to deliver and transfer the same message from generation to generation.

Having the passion of its members on choral music and their singing competence, The Archipelago Singers now frequently performs in various occasions and concerts. In 2009, The Archipelago Singers has succeeded in having its first major concert performing classical sacred choral music from three centuries, as part of our objectives of promoting more internationally known choral compositions in Indonesia. Our second concert in 2011, which performed classical sacred and popular choral music, was also a great success and gained positive reviews and great enthusiasm from Indonesian choral music audience.
