Satriya Krisna - The Conductor

Satriya Krisna is currently one of Indonesian most talented young conductors. He took his vocal lessons under the guidance of some Indonesian reputed musicians, such as Ivan Yohan, Dorcas Soenarjo and Joseph Kristanto Pantioso. His outstanding vocal skill was first demonstrated in 2009 when he sucessfully passed ABRSM Grade 8 vocal examination as “National ‘s highest distinction”


As soloist, in 2007, Satriya took the role of "Aeneas" in Henry Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas" and the role of "Mozart" at the opera "Mozart and Salieri" of Rimsky Korsakov in 2010, in addition to his own vocal recital "The Spirit of Love" after his return from international solo vocal competition in Llangolen, Wales, as the representative of Indonesia. This year, Satriya is admitted to pursue his formal education in vocal music in the Netherlands, after previously took his Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Parahyangan Catholic University Choir, Bandung, Indonesia.

In choral conducting, Satriya participated in numbers of workshops given by internationally acclaimed conductors, amongst others Avip Priatna, Prof. Andre de Quadros, Prof. Pearl Shangkuan, Tommy Prabowo and Ghislaine Morgan. During his time with internationally renowned Parahyangan Catholic University Choir in Bandung, Indonesia, Satriya performed in series of choir concerts in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Wales and England besides his role as the main assistant to the conductor of the choir from 2006 to 2009. In 2007, Satriya was selected to represent Indonesia at the Asian Youth Choir, a choir having the most talented young singers from all over Asia as its members, under the direction of Chifuru Matsubara from Japan. Until now, Satriya is activley teaching classical singing in some music educational institutions in Indonesia and conducting numbers of university choirs.
