Do You Know?

∙                Our choir’s name, “The Archipelago Singers” is  chosen to reflect Indonesia, the world's largest archipelagic state. The Archipelago Singers intends to make people aware that our thousands of traditional songs make Indonesian choral music one of the world’s richest choral musical heritage. 

∙                All members of The Archipelago Singers are singers of various prominent Indonesian choirs who have won various overseas international choir competitions and numbers of national choir competitions. 

∙                In the upcoming 49th International Choir Competition, Spittal an der Drau, Austria, one of the world’s most prestigious competitions, The Archipelago Singers is the only choir representing Indonesia (and Southeast Asia) as well as the first Indonesian independent choir admitted in the long history of the competition. 

∙                The Archipelago Singers is selected as one of the six competing choirs in the next 9th International Choir Competition, Miltenberg, Germany, after being shortlisted out of 40 applying choirs from 16 countries and will be the only representative of Indonesia in the competition. 

∙                The Archipelago Singers is a real example of “Unity in Diversity”. Our members come from five different religions and various ethnic groups united through the universal bridge of music, making us a “replica” of Indonesia. 

∙                The tickets of our 2011 annual concert. “Pray and Sway” were sold out only within less than two weeks after being offered to public, a rare achievement made by a concert of Indonesian choir.
